Kawasaki is all set to take its India-built W175 to American shores. The retro-styled motorcycle has been certified by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and California Air Resources Board (CARB) as a 2026 model, confirming its upcoming launch in the United States. This marks a significant milestone for India Kawasaki Motors, as the W175 will be the first locally developed and manufactured Kawasaki motorcycle exported to the US.
Built at Kawasaki’s plant in India, the W175 is powered by a 177cc single-cylinder, air-cooled engine producing 13hp and 13Nm of torque. Known for its lightweight simplicity and classic design, the bike draws inspiration from the brand’s iconic W-series heritage.
The version certified for the American market is the W175 LTD, based on the W175 Street variant sold in India and Mexico. It features alloy wheels, a stepped single-piece seat, and a taller, closer handlebar better suited to US rider ergonomics. Notable changes include the removal of the saree guard and fork gaiters, as well as the addition of new heat shields on the exhaust and crankcase.
Since its global debut in September 2022, the Kawasaki W175 has found success in markets like India and Indonesia. Its entry into the US signals Kawasaki’s growing reliance on its Indian manufacturing base for global export models.
With its retro design, modest performance, and affordable construction, the W175 LTD could carve a niche as an accessible, lightweight commuter for American riders looking for vintage charm with modern reliability.
