2026 Yamaha R7 Unveiled at EICMA with Advanced Electronics and Refined Chassis

News Story

Yamaha has unveiled the 2026 R7 at EICMA 2025, bringing a host of meaningful updates to its popular middleweight sportbike. The R7 retains its proven 689cc parallel-twin engine producing 73.4hp at 8,750rpm and 68Nm torque at 6,500rpm but benefits from an advanced third-generation quickshifter system for smoother, clutchless upshifts and downshifts.

The bike features a new 5-inch TFT color screen coupled with an advanced 6-axis inertial measurement unit (IMU) developed from the flagship YZF-R1, enabling an extensive rider aid suite. This includes traction control, slide control, wheelie control, brake control, engine brake management, and launch control. Riders can customize these aids through Yamaha Ride Control (YRC) with three preset modes—Sport, Street, and Rain—alongside two custom and four track modes.

Chassis improvements include a revised steel tubular frame for enhanced rigidity and an updated asymmetrical swingarm designed for optimized strength and feedback. Lighter spin-forged 10-spoke wheels combined with Bridgestone Battlax Hypersport S23 tires reduce unsprung mass, improving handling and suspension responsiveness. The riding position has been adjusted to offer improved comfort and greater rider freedom of movement.

Styling changes bring a sleeker front profile and integrate LED turn indicators into the mirrors. Yamaha offers the 2026 R7 in four color options, including Team Yamaha Blue, Raven, Breaker Cyan/Raven, and a special 70th Anniversary Edition in red and white.

The 2026 Yamaha R7 embodies Yamaha’s strategy of combining accessible performance, advanced technology, and refined ergonomics to elevate the supersport riding experience for enthusiasts worldwide.
