HERO Launches the New XPulse 210, Xtreme 250R and Karizma XMR

News Story

After five years of using an air/oil-cooled engine, Hero has finally upgraded its popular off-roader, the Xpulse, with the liquid-cooled engine from the Karizma XMR. The result is the new Xpulse 210, which was revealed for the first time at EICMA 2024. Alongside the Xpulse 210, Hero also showcased the new Xtreme 250R and Karizma 250.

Key Features and Updates for the Hero Xpulse 210

Engine and Performance: The Xpulse 210 is powered by a 210cc liquid-cooled engine, derived from the Karizma XMR, but with slightly reduced output. The engine produces 24.6hp and 20.7Nm of torque, which is a slight drop from the Karizma’s 25.5hp while retaining the same torque.

Design and Styling

While the Xpulse 210 retains the design elements of the Xpulse 200, there are some notable differences. The biggest visual change is the new paint schemes. The tank now has a sharper dip leading to the rider’s seat, unlike the 200’s flowing tank design.

Suspension and Off-road Features

The Xpulse 210 features long suspension travel with 210mm front and 205mm rear. The bike also comes equipped with switchable ABS, allowing better control in off-road conditions. The wheel sizes are 21 inches at the front and 18 inches at the rear, making it ideal for off-road riding.

TFT Dash and Features

A new 4.2-inch TFT display is a standout feature for an off-road bike in this segment, providing riders with better visibility and more advanced features.

Pricing and Availability

The Xpulse 210 will be priced higher than the current Xpulse 200, which is priced between Rs 1.47 lakh and Rs 1.55 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The 210 will also offer a rally kit, just like its predecessor. Hero is expected to launch the Xpulse 210 in India soon.

The Xpulse 210 builds on the success of the Xpulse 200, with its upgraded engine and features designed to improve off-road performance, making it a more capable and exciting option for adventure riders.

Alongside the Xpulse 210, Hero MotoCorp also unveiled two new models at EICMA 2024: the Xtreme 250R and the Karizma XMR 250. These bikes represent Hero’s foray into the 250cc segment, with the Xtreme 250R being the production version of the Xtunt 2.5R concept from last year, and the Karizma XMR 250 being a 250cc version of the legendary Karizma.

Key Features and Updates for the Hero Xtreme 250R and Karizma XMR 250

Engine and Performance: Both bikes are powered by a 250cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine, derived from the existing 210cc unit found in the Karizma XMR. The engine has been stroked out by 7mm to increase its capacity, and now produces 30hp and 25Nm of torque. This new engine is paired with a 6-speed gearbox, and both bikes come with switchable ABS modes for improved safety and control.

Chassis and Suspension

Both the Xtreme 250R and the Karizma XMR 250 use a steel-trellis frame and are suspended by a USD fork and monoshock. Hero claims that the Xtreme 250R can complete the 0-60kph sprint in just 3.25 seconds.

Styling Differences

Karizma XMR 250

The Karizma XMR 250 features a sharp, fully-faired design with aerodynamic winglets flanking the headlight. While the aerodynamic benefits of these winglets on a 30hp bike are questionable, they do add to the bike’s aggressive look. The Karizma XMR 250 is designed to be comfortable with height-adjustable clip-ons, allowing the rider to tailor the riding position.

Xtreme 250R

The Xtreme 250R takes on a more aggressive streetfighter stance, with sharp cuts, an angular fuel tank, and a stepped-up pillion perch. The rear number plate mount is positioned on the swingarm, a design feature often seen on larger European bikes.

Launch and Availability

Both the Xtreme 250R and Karizma XMR 250 are expected to make their debut in the European market as part of Hero MotoCorp’s push into this region, alongside the Vida Z electric scooter. However, Hero has not yet confirmed the exact timeline for their release in India or Europe.

Vida Z: New Hero E-scooter

Hero also introduced the Vida Z, a new electric scooter targeted for the European market. The Vida Z features a modular architecture that supports battery capacities ranging from 2.2kWh to 4.4kWh. It also has removable batteries, similar to the V1 models sold in India. The scooter’s design has been revamped with rounded edges and more creases, giving it a fresh look compared to the V1.

Summary

The Xtreme 250R and Karizma XMR 250 mark Hero’s entry into the growing 250cc segment with modern features, styling, and performance. While the Xtreme 250R offers an aggressive streetfighter design, the Karizma XMR 250 carries forward the classic Karizma lineage with a sportier, fully-faired approach. Both bikes offer impressive performance with their new 250cc engines and advanced features, and they are part of Hero’s strategy to expand its global presence, particularly in Europe.
