Honda Leads in Wholesale Market but Hero takes the Retail Market

News Story

In July, Honda managed to surpass Hero in terms of wholesale (factory) sales, marking a significant achievement for the brand. Honda recorded 4,39,118 units in wholesale distribution, reflecting a strong 41.34% year-over-year (YoY) growth, though it saw a 9% decline compared to the previous month. Despite Honda’s lead in wholesale, Hero still retained the edge in retail sales, with 3,94,902 two-wheelers sold compared to Honda’s 3,68,409 units. Hero’s domestic sales figures dropped to 3,47,535 units, experiencing a 29.27% decline from the previous month and a 6.37% YoY dip.

A notable highlight was Suzuki’s strong performance, crossing the 1 lakh mark in sales for the first time, with 1,00,602 units sold—a substantial 25.26% YoY growth and a 41.52% increase from the previous month. However, Suzuki’s exports saw a steep decline of 41.46%, with only 16,112 units shipped overseas.
