European type-approval filings have confirmed that KTM is developing the 1390 Super Duke RR, a high-performance, limited-edition version of its recently launched 1390 Super Duke R. Following the formula of the earlier 1290 Super Duke RR, this new RR will push the boundaries of the brand’s “The Beast” philosophy even further.
Lightweight Performance Focus
The upcoming Super Duke RR retains the same 1,350cc V-twin engine, producing an aggressive 190hp and 145Nm of torque. However, KTM’s primary focus this time appears to be weight reduction. Official data reveals a kerb weight of just 204kg, nearly 8.5kg lighter than the standard Super Duke R’s 212.5kg figure.
This impressive reduction has reportedly been achieved through the use of carbon fibre components, a lightweight lithium-ion battery, and an Akrapovic titanium exhaust system, which is expected to come as standard equipment.
Hardware and Design Upgrades
The documents also mention a 17mm wider handlebar, likely to offer more command and to accommodate lever guards — a detail previously seen on the 1290 Super Duke RR. KTM is also expected to equip the RR with high-spec WP Apex Pro suspension, though this has yet to be officially confirmed.
Limited Production and Launch Timeline
As with its predecessor, the 1390 Super Duke RR is expected to be produced in limited numbers, possibly around 500 units globally, keeping it an exclusive track-inspired collector’s machine. Sources suggest that the official debut will take place sometime in 2026, with a focus on performance purists seeking the ultimate hypernaked riding experience.
