KTM RC 160 Launched: Entry-Level Supersport at Rs 1.85 Lakh

News Story

KTM expands its 160 lineup with the fully faired RC 160, launched at Rs 1.85 lakh ex-showroom, slotting below the RC 200 and RC 390 as the brand’s affordable supersport gateway. Sharing the Duke 160’s platform, it delivers sharp performance for enthusiasts eyeing Yamaha R15 territory. This debut follows the 160 Duke by months, targeting young riders with track-inspired styling and street agility.

Engine and Performance
The 164.2cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine churns 19hp at 9,500rpm and 15.5Nm at 7,500rpm, mated to a 6-speed gearbox with assist-and-slipper clutch for smooth shifts. Top speed hits 118kph, backed by dual-channel ABS featuring Supermoto mode for versatile control. Braking uses a 320mm front disc and 230mm rear disc, paired with 110/70 front and 140/70 rear tyres on 17-inch wheels.

Chassis and Features
Suspension includes a 37mm USD fork upfront and monoshock rear, promising sporty handling despite added fairing weight over the Duke’s 147kg kerb. All-LED lighting covers headlamp, taillamp, and indicators, with an LCD cluster (TFT possible later). Expect a slight heft increase from the extensive aero bodywork.

Market Positioning
Priced Rs 15,000 above the 160 Duke and Rs 19,000 over the R15 at Rs 1.66 lakh, it blends KTM’s aggressive DNA with accessible entry.
