The Scram 440’s engine displacement has been increased from 411cc to 443cc through a 3mm bore enhancement. This boost translates to a power increase from 24.3hp at 6,500rpm to 25.4hp at 6,250rpm. Torque has also seen an improvement, climbing from 32Nm at 4,250rpm to 34Nm at 4,000rpm.
Enhanced Gearbox and Valvetrain Upgrades
The motorcycle now features a 6-speed gearbox, replacing the previous 5-speed unit. This upgrade is coupled with a redesigned clutch mechanism, ensuring reduced clutch effort for smoother rides. Additionally, refinements in the SOHC valvetrain system promise lower noise levels, further enhancing rider comfort.
Strengthened Chassis and Improved Braking
Royal Enfield has made subtle yet crucial changes to the Scram 440’s chassis. The structure has been strengthened in specific areas, allowing for the addition of a top box. Although the suspension travel remains unchanged at 190mm in the front and 180mm in the rear, braking performance has been enhanced with larger pistons in the calipers.
The bike maintains a ground clearance of 200mm and a seat height of 795mm, ensuring it remains accessible to a wide range of riders.
Tubeless Tyres and Switchable ABS
In response to customer feedback, Royal Enfield has introduced tubeless tyres and alloy wheels as options alongside traditional spoked wheels. Switchable ABS is now standard, a feature that was absent in the Scram 411, adding an extra layer of safety and adaptability.
Minimal Visual Changes with Modern Features
The Scram 440 retains the familiar rugged design of its predecessor but introduces fresh color schemes and a new LED headlamp. The display remains a digi-analogue unit, with an optional tripper navigation pod available. Conventional switchgear is carried forward, favoring simplicity over rotary-style switches.
Two Variants and Expected Pricing
The Scram 440 will be launched in January 2025 in two variants:
Force Variant: Features alloy wheels and tubeless tyres.
Trail Variant: Retains spoked wheels for off-road enthusiasts.
The current Scram 411 is priced between ₹2.06 lakh and ₹2.12 lakh. The Scram 440 is expected to have a slightly higher price point, reflecting its improved features and performance.
