Triumph Launches Daytona 660 in India: A Competitive Middleweight Sportbike

News Story

Triumph has officially launched the all-new Daytona 660 in India at a price of Rs 9.72 lakh. This latest offering is set to compete with renowned models such as the Kawasaki Ninja 650 and the Aprilia RS 660, priced at Rs 7.16 lakh and Rs 17.74 lakh, respectively.

Higher Power Output, Premium Pricing

The Triumph Daytona 660, though priced higher than its Tiger Sport 660 sibling, delivers more power. Powered by a 660cc inline three-cylinder engine, this bike is tuned to produce 95hp at 11,250rpm and 69Nm at 8,250rpm. This is 14hp more and 5Nm higher than its naked and adventure counterparts, the Trident 660 and Tiger Sport 660. The Daytona 660 offers more power but comes at a heavier weight, being 12kg heavier than the Trident 660 but 5kg lighter than the Tiger Sport 660.

While these figures don’t surpass the previous Daytona 675, Triumph assures that the Daytona 660 offers a more user-friendly and comfortable riding experience. It bridges the gap between high performance and daily usability, making it a strong contender in the sportbike segment.

Riding Comfort and Dimensions

The Daytona 660 features a seat height of 810mm, which is 25mm shorter than the Tiger Sport 660 and 5mm taller than the Trident 660. This adjustment in seat height makes it a comfortable fit for a wide range of riders, balancing between adventure touring ergonomics and sportbike precision.

It also comes with a 14-litre fuel tank, identical to that of the Trident 660, offering enough range for long-distance rides without sacrificing its sport-focused identity.

Global Availability and Color Options

Globally, the Triumph Daytona 660 is available in three striking colors: Snowdonia White, Satin Granite, and Carnival Red. These color options allow riders to express their personal style while enjoying the bike’s superior performance.

Price Comparison in India

In India, the Daytona 660 is priced Rs 27,000 more than the Tiger Sport 660 and a whopping Rs 1.60 lakh more than the Trident 660. However, it is important to note that the Street Triple 765 R, a higher-performance bike in Triumph’s lineup, is only Rs 45,000 more expensive than the Daytona 660 while delivering significantly higher power and torque figures. Despite this, the Daytona 660 holds its own in the middleweight sportbike category, offering a unique blend of comfort, power, and design.

Rivals in the Segment

The Kawasaki Ninja 650 and the Aprilia RS 660 stand as the key competitors for the Daytona 660. The Ninja 650, priced at Rs 7.16 lakh, is a more budget-friendly option but lacks the refinement and premium features of the Triumph. On the other hand, the Aprilia RS 660, with a price tag of Rs 17.74 lakh, offers more high-end features and performance but at a significantly higher cost. Other contenders expected to enter this segment soon include the Honda CBR650R and the Suzuki GSX-8R, further intensifying the competition.

The Triumph Daytona 660 strikes a balance between performance, comfort, and premium build quality. With its competitive pricing and high power output, it offers a strong alternative to the Kawasaki Ninja 650 and Aprilia RS 660 in the middleweight sportbike market. Despite being more expensive than its naked and adventure counterparts, the Daytona 660 is well-positioned to attract riders looking for a sportbike that is both thrilling and practical for everyday use.
