Triumph has rolled out an updated version of its popular Tiger 1200 in India, bringing a series of enhancements aimed at improving refinement, comfort, and rider experience. This update comes over two years after the all-new Tiger 1200 first made its debut in the Indian market.
Improved Engine Refinement and Smoother Ride
The new Tiger 1200 retains its 1,160cc, T-Plane three-cylinder engine, which produces 150hp and 130Nm of torque. However, this update includes changes to the crankshaft, alternator, and balancer shaft, along with engine calibration adjustments. These changes aim to deliver smoother torque at low RPMs and reduce vibrations for a more refined riding experience. Additionally, the updated clutch allows for smoother first-gear engagement, enhancing ease of control.
Enhanced Comfort Features and Reduced Seat Height
Comfort improvements are also a major focus of this update. The GT Pro and Rally Pro models now come with damped handlebars and risers, borrowed from the Explorer variants, which help in reducing vibrations. The seat has been reprofiled for a flatter design, creating more space for the rider. For those seeking a lower seat height, Triumph offers an accessory low seat that reduces the height by 20mm, making it 830mm on the GT Pro and 855mm on the Rally Pro.
Active Preload Reduction for Lowered Seat Height at Stops
A standout new feature across the Tiger 1200 range is the Active Preload Reduction. This system reduces the preload on the rear suspension as the bike slows to a stop, lowering the seat height by up to 20mm. This feature is especially beneficial for riders who prefer easier reach to the ground at stops.
Improved Cornering Clearance for GT Pro and GT Explorer Models
The GT Pro and GT Explorer models now boast increased cornering clearance. The footpegs have been repositioned to sit higher and closer to the bike, allowing for sharper cornering without sacrificing stability.
Updated Price Range for the Triumph Tiger 1200
The updated Triumph Tiger 1200 range sees a slight price increase of around Rs 19,000. The lineup starts at Rs 19.39 lakh ex-showroom for the GT Pro, with the Rally Pro priced at Rs 20.38 lakh. The GT Explorer and Rally Explorer variants are priced at Rs 20.88 lakh and Rs 21.88 lakh respectively.
The updated Tiger 1200 from Triumph combines improved refinement, enhanced comfort, and practical features like the Active Preload Reduction, making it an attractive choice for adventure enthusiasts.
