News Story

Triumph has introduced the Scrambler 400 X, expanding its diverse lineup of motorcycles. Priced at Rs 2,62,996 (ex-showroom, Delhi), this remarkable scrambler offers a distinct off-road character and impressive features, setting it apart from its roadster sibling, the Speed 400.

Off-Road Prowess
The Scrambler 400 X is built for adventure, featuring a 19-inch front wheel and a robust ground clearance of 195mm. These enhancements, along with 150mm of suspension travel at both ends, make it a capable off-road machine. The off-road foot pegs with removable rubber inserts, sump guard, and headlight grille come standard, reinforcing its rugged image.

Powerful Performance
Under the hood, the Scrambler 400 X shares the same liquid-cooled, 398cc single-cylinder engine found in the Speed 400. It generates 40hp at 8,000rpm and 37.5Nm of torque at 6,500rpm. This engine is paired with a 6-speed gearbox and a slip and assist clutch, ensuring a dynamic and engaging riding experience. While the main frame remains identical to the Speed 400, the Scrambler 400 X has been equipped with taller suspension units and a larger 19-inch front wheel. It weighs 9kg more than the Speed, tipping the scales at 185kg.

Off-Road Focus
The heightened suspension units lead to a commanding seat height of 835mm, making it ideal for riders seeking an upright and commanding riding posture. The larger ground clearance, combined with the off-road foot pegs, enhances its off-road capabilities. The Scrambler 400 X also comes with a sump guard for added protection.

Impressive Features
This scrambler sports a 100/80-19 front tire and a 140/80-17 rear tire, ensuring a good balance of stability and agility in diverse terrains. The front brake is a larger 320mm unit, providing efficient stopping power when needed. The features on the Scrambler 400 X are consistent with the Speed 400, but it offers the convenience of turning off the rear ABS when required.

Competing in Its League
In its price range, the Scrambler 400 X finds itself in a unique position. While the Yezdi Scrambler is a competitor, it is more affordable but not as powerful or feature-rich as the Triumph. For those seeking a similar level of performance and capability, the KTM 390 Adventure X is a close rival. Priced at Rs 2.81 lakh (ex-showroom, India), it is Rs 18,000 more expensive than the Scrambler 400 X.

The Triumph Scrambler 400 X is a thrilling addition to the adventure segment, designed for riders who crave off-road experiences and distinctive style. With its robust features and competitive pricing, it promises an exhilarating journey both on and off the beaten path.
