News Story

Triumph has taken the wraps off its highly anticipated 2024 Scrambler 1200 line-up, introducing exciting updates and refinements. The most notable change is the replacement of the XC variant with the new X variant, while the top-tier XE variant has also undergone comprehensive updates.

Common Ground

Both the X and XE variants share the same heart: a liquid-cooled, 90hp, 110Nm, 1,200cc, parallel-twin engine mated to a 6-speed gearbox with a torque assist clutch. These power figures remain unchanged from the previous model. Visually, the new models maintain the Scrambler’s iconic design but feature fresh paint schemes and a slimmer LED tail-light. Both bikes roll on tubeless, spoked rims, with a 90/90-21 front and 150/70-R17 rear tire configuration.

Triumph Scrambler 1200 X: A More Accessible Option

The new Scrambler 1200 X is designed for accessibility, boasting a reduced seat height of 820mm, down from the previous 840mm. This adjustment is partly achieved through the installation of new Marzocchi suspension units with 170mm of travel at both ends, compared to the previous XC’s 200mm travel. For those seeking an even lower seat height, Triumph offers an optional low seat, dropping it further to a manageable 795mm. Notable hardware changes include the presence of axially mounted Nissin calipers gripping twin 310mm discs at the front, a departure from the previous superbike-spec M50 calipers.

The X variant offers five riding modes (Rain, Road, Sport, Off-road, and Rider configurable), now enhanced with IMU-enabled traction control and cornering ABS. The X features a round dash, similar to Triumph’s 660cc models, and the optional Bluetooth module unlocks features such as turn-by-turn navigation and notification alerts. This road-biased variant is equipped with Metzeler Karoo Street tires.

Triumph Scrambler 1200 XE: The Enhanced Range-Topper

The Scrambler 1200 XE builds on the strengths of its predecessor, offering some notable updates. Suspension duties are now handled by Marzocchi with full adjustability, while the seat height remains tall at 870mm. However, an optional low seat can bring it down to 845mm. The XE also benefits from Brembo Stylema calipers, the same as those found on the Ducati Panigale V4 S.

For those seeking off-road prowess, the XE variant introduces the Off-road Pro mode, allowing riders to disable all riding aids. This complements the existing five riding modes. The XE features Metzeler Tourance dual-purpose tires, tailored for off-road adventures. The technology package includes the same TFT dash found in the previous Scrambler 1200 line-up and the robust Rocket 3 muscle cruiser.

As is typical with Triumph, a wide array of over 70 official accessories is available, ranging from aesthetic enhancements to functional upgrades.

In conclusion, the 2024 Triumph Scrambler 1200 line-up represents a thrilling evolution of an iconic motorcycle series. With accessibility, technology enhancements, and off-road capabilities, these bikes continue to capture the spirit of adventure that defines the Scrambler heritage.
