News Story
The legendary Italian motorcycle manufacturer, Moto Morini, has expanded its distinguished lineup by introducing the all-new Calibro – a 650cc cruiser. Powered by the same 649cc parallel-twin motor featured in Morini’s existing models, the X-Cape adventure bike and the Seiemmezzo scrambler, the Calibro offers a captivating blend of Italian design and performance.
Impressive Engine Performance
The Calibro draws its power from the CFMoto-sourced engine, which bears a striking resemblance to Kawasaki’s 649cc parallel-twin. In the X-Cape and Seiemmezzo models, this engine generates approximately 60hp and 54Nm of torque, offering a thrilling riding experience. The Calibro is expected to deliver similar performance figures. However, Moto Morini is set to offer an A2-compliant version, with power capped at 35kW (47.6hp), catering to a broader range of riders.
Key Differences
Distinguishing itself from Morini’s other bikes, the Calibro features a conventional telescopic fork and twin shock absorbers, providing a comfortable and controlled ride. It is equipped with a single brake disc at both ends, complemented by J Juan calipers. The bike’s alloy wheels measure 18 inches at the front and 16 inches at the rear, offering a balanced and agile riding experience. With a seat height of just 720mm, the Calibro ensures accessibility for riders of varying heights.
Fuel Capacity and Styling
While full specifications and details will be unveiled at EICMA later this year, the Calibro boasts a generous 15-liter fuel tank, promising a satisfying riding range between fill-ups. In terms of design, the Calibro exhibits a sporty cruiser aesthetic, reminiscent of the new Kawasaki Eliminator. The slim and slender fuel tank, small headlight shroud for added sportiness, and neat fork gaiters contribute to its distinctive appearance.
Prospects and Pricing
Pricing details for the Moto Morini Calibro are expected to be revealed at EICMA, scheduled from November 7 to 12 in Milan. With Morini’s existing models already available, there is a possibility that the Calibro might make its way to international markets, including India. However, given the prevailing preference for adventure bikes and scramblers over cruisers in India, the Calibro’s introduction is far from certain. The future will unveil whether this Italian cruiser graces the roads of India.
The Moto Morini Calibro 650cc cruiser embodies the essence of Italian craftsmanship, blending style, performance, and accessibility into a captivating two-wheeled experience. Whether it conquers the Indian market or not, it stands as a testament to Moto Morini’s dedication to crafting exceptional motorcycles.
