Royal Enfield has officially launched the much-anticipated Guerrilla 450, following a series of cheeky teasers aimed at competitors on social media. The bike is priced between Rs 2.39 lakh and Rs 2.54 lakh (introductory, ex-showroom, Chennai), offering an exciting new option for adventure enthusiasts.
Design and Display
The base variant of the Guerrilla 450 features a digi-analogue display similar to the Hunter and Shotgun models. This combination of digital and analogue elements provides a modern yet classic look. The higher variants come equipped with a TFT dash, including connectivity features seen on Royal Enfield’s adventure bikes, and a supplementary Tripper navigation pod.
Engine and Performance
The Guerrilla 450 is powered by the same 452cc, liquid-cooled ‘Sherpa 450’ engine found in the Himalayan. It produces 40hp at 8,000rpm and 40Nm of torque at 5,500rpm. Although the engine remains the same, Royal Enfield has fine-tuned the gearing to match the character of the Guerrilla, ensuring a unique riding experience.
Chassis and Suspension
The chassis of the Guerrilla 450 is similar to the Himalayan, with the engine serving as a stressed member of the main frame. However, the subframe has been modified for this model. The Guerrilla 450 swaps the Himalayan’s USD fork for a gaitered telescopic unit but retains the monoshock for rear suspension duties. The bike features disc brakes at both ends – 310mm at the front and 270mm at the rear – with dual-channel ABS for added safety.
Weight and Tyres
One of the standout features of the Guerrilla 450 is its weight. At 185kg, it is 11kg lighter than the Himalayan. This weight reduction is partly due to the 11-litre fuel tank and the smaller 17-inch alloy wheels with tubeless tyres. The bike runs on CEAT tyres sized 120/70 R17 (front) and 160/60 R17 (rear), the fattest tyres ever fitted to a made-in-India motorcycle.
Variants and Colors
The Guerrilla 450 is available in three variants – Analogue, Dash, and Flash. The Analogue variant sports a more subdued grey and black colour palette with colourful accents, while the Dash and Flash variants are flashier. In total, there are five colour options available across the variants.
Pricing and Competition
The base Analogue variant is priced at Rs 2.39 lakh, the mid-range Dash at Rs 2.49 lakh, and the top-end Flash at Rs 2.54 lakh. The Guerrilla 450 competes with the Triumph Speed 400 (Rs 2.34 lakh), Honda CB300R (Rs 2.40 lakh), and Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 (Rs 2.92 lakh) in the Indian market.
The Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450 brings a fresh and exciting option to the adventure bike segment, with its competitive pricing, modern features, and distinctive design. Whether you are a seasoned rider or an adventure enthusiast, the Guerrilla 450 offers a compelling blend of performance and style.
