Hero MotoCorp has launched the new Xtreme 160R 4V cruise control variant in India at an ex-showroom price of ₹1.34 lakh, positioning it as the top-spec model in the range. Priced about ₹4,485 higher than the standard Xtreme 160R 4V, it brings segment-first tech like cruise control and ride-by-wire to the 160cc class.
Price and positioning
The Xtreme 160R 4V cruise control variant is priced at ₹1.34 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), compared to roughly ₹1.30 lakh for the standard 4V model. This makes it the new top variant in the line-up, with the premium justified by added electronics and features rather than mechanical upgrades.
Engine and hardware
There are no mechanical changes: the bike continues with a 163.2cc, single-cylinder, air/oil-cooled engine producing around 16–16.9 hp at 8,500 rpm and 14.6 Nm at 6,500 rpm, paired with a 5‑speed gearbox. Suspension and braking hardware remain the same as the standard 4V, with 37 mm KYB USD forks, a preload‑adjustable monoshock, and disc brakes at both ends with dual-channel ABS.
New tech and features
The headline addition is a ride-by-wire throttle system that enables cruise control, a feature previously seen on the Xtreme 125R and now a first in the 160cc segment. The system also brings three riding modes – Rain, Road and Sport – selectable via revised switchgear, along with a new colour LCD instrument cluster and an updated LED headlamp inspired by the larger Xtreme 250R.
Design and colours
Styling is sharpened with a revised LED headlight and colour TFT-style LCD dash shared with the Xtreme 250R, giving the bike a more premium look. The cruise control variant is offered in multiple paint schemes, including dual-tone bronze/black, forest green/neon, black with red accents, and an exclusive matte grey “Combat Edition” finish for this top-spec model.
Rival context
With its cruise control and ride-by-wire package, the Xtreme 160R 4V stands out against rivals like the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V and Bajaj Pulsar N160, which focus more on performance and connectivity but do not offer cruise control. The small price gap over the standard Xtreme 160R 4V positions this variant as a tech-heavy option for buyers who want premium big-bike features in the 160cc commuter-sport segment.
