Launch & Pricing
After a long build-up — from the F 450 GS Concept debut at EICMA 2024, through multiple test mule sightings, to the production version reveal at EICMA 2025 — BMW Motorrad has officially launched the F 450 GS in India. The motorcycle is available in three variants with prices ranging from Rs 4.70 lakh to Rs 5.30 lakh (ex-showroom).
Bookings are currently open, with deliveries scheduled to begin from June 2026. In a significant move for the brand, the F 450 GS is manufactured in India by TVS Motor Company at its Hosur facility, enabling competitive pricing in this segment.
The F 450 GS steps into the role vacated by the discontinued G 310 GS, serving as BMW Motorrad’s new entry point into its iconic GS adventure lineup.

Engine & Performance
At the heart of all three variants lies a 420cc parallel-twin, liquid-cooled engine — a significant upgrade over the single-cylinder unit in the G 310 GS it replaces. The motor produces:
Peak Power: 48hp at 8,750rpm
Peak Torque: 43Nm at 6,750rpm
Gearbox: 6-speed
Fuel Efficiency: 26 kpl (claimed)
BMW’s Shift Assistant Pro — enabling clutchless upshifts and downshifts — is offered as standard from the Exclusive variant upward, adding a sporty, refined riding experience on tarmac and trails alike.
Chassis, Suspension & Brakes
The F 450 GS tips the scales at a kerb weight of 178kg — relatively light for the segment — and is built on a platform well-suited for mixed-terrain adventure riding.
Suspension:
Front: KYB upside-down (USD) fork
Rear: Monoshock adjustable for preload and rebound
Braking:
Front: Brembo caliper
Rear: Bybre unit
ABS: Dual-channel ABS Pro with cornering functionality — effective even mid-lean
Additional Safety: Dynamic Brake Control (DBC) and Dynamic Brake Light, standard across all variants
Features & Technology
The F 450 GS punches well above its price bracket in terms of tech:
6.5-inch TFT display with Bluetooth connectivity
Heated grips — standard across all variants
Adjustable clutch and brake levers
All-LED lighting including quad-LED DRLs inspired by the flagship R 1300 GS
Engine Drag Torque Control (EDTC)
Traction Control
BMW Easy Ride Clutch — standard on Trophy; can be retrofitted to other variants
Height-adjustable rear brake lever (20mm adjustment range)
Variant Breakdown
🔵 Base — Rs 4.70 lakh
The entry-level variant covers the essentials well: 6.5-inch TFT display, all-LED lighting, heated grips, ABS Pro, traction control, engine drag torque control, and adjustable levers. Available exclusively in Cosmic Black.
🔵 Exclusive — Rs 4.90 lakh
Builds on the Base with meaningful off-road-focused additions: off-road foot pegs, hand guards, engine guard, Riding Modes Pro, Shift Assistant Pro, and a clear windshield. Also available only in Cosmic Black.
🏆 GS Trophy — Rs 5.30 lakh
The range-topper gets a more aggressive setup: sport suspension, white hand guards, tinted Rallye windshield, aluminium engine guard, Riding Modes Pro, Shift Assistant Pro, and the Easy Ride Clutch as standard. Exclusively available in BMW’s iconic tricolour paint scheme — a nod to the legendary GS Trophy rally heritage.
Design
The F 450 GS carries classic GS design DNA — tall stance, chunky ADV bodywork, and a commanding road presence. The quad-LED DRL signature is a direct styling reference to the flagship R 1300 GS, giving the bike a premium, family-consistent look despite its accessible price.
BMW is also offering an extensive optional accessories catalogue, including:
Cross-spoke wheels
Multiple windscreen options
Luggage systems
Handlebar risers
Different seat configurations
Competition
The F 450 GS enters one of the most hotly contested segments in the Indian market. Its primary rivals include:
RivalEnginePrice (approx.)Honda NX500471cc parallel-twin~Rs 5.40 lakhKTM 390 Adventure399cc single~Rs 3.50 lakhRoyal Enfield Himalayan 450452cc single~Rs 2.85 lakh
The NX500 is the closest apples-to-apples competitor with a parallel-twin motor, while the KTM and Royal Enfield offerings are single-cylinder alternatives at lower price points. The BMW badge, twin-cylinder refinement, and feature set give the F 450 GS a strong case — especially at the introductory Base price.
Verdict
The BMW F 450 GS is a well-rounded package that plugs an important gap in BMW Motorrad’s India lineup. With a twin-cylinder motor, Brembo braking hardware, KYB suspension, cornering ABS, and a feature-rich TFT display starting under Rs 5 lakh, it makes the GS experience more accessible than ever. Local manufacturing via TVS keeps pricing sharp, and the tiered variant structure ensures there’s an option for both the budget-conscious buyer and the serious off-road enthusiast eyeing the Trophy.
For riders who’ve long admired the GS lineage but couldn’t justify the price of the larger GS models, the F 450 GS may well be the most compelling entry point the brand has ever offered in India.
Bookings open now. Deliveries commence June 2026.
