BMW Vision K 18 unveiled with 1,800cc inline-six engine and radical touring design

News Story

BMW Motorrad has unveiled the Vision K 18 concept at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este at Lake Como, giving a glimpse of a more dramatic future for its inline-six motorcycle lineup. The concept is built around a 1,800cc inline-six engine and uses styling cues that make the powertrain the visual centerpiece of the bike.

The Vision K 18 takes inspiration from high-speed aircraft such as the Aerospatiale/BAC Concorde, which gives it a long, low, and stretched silhouette. BMW says the concept explores a more performance-focused direction compared with the brand’s current inline-six touring motorcycles, which are typically designed with comfort and long-distance riding in mind.

Several design details directly reference the six-cylinder layout. The concept features six LED headlight elements, six intake tubes, and six exhaust outlets integrated into the wide rear section, creating a strong visual link to the engine architecture. BMW has also used hand-formed aluminium body panels, forged carbon elements, and a hydraulically adjustable suspension setup to underline its premium, experimental nature.

While the Vision K 18 is only a concept for now, it could influence the look and feel of BMW Motorrad’s future inline-six motorcycles. The company has not confirmed any production plans, but the concept clearly signals a more radical design direction for its high-end touring and performance machines.
